The UnKnown is all that we do not know, all that we do not understand…
…all that is beyond our comprehension, all that we seek in philosophy, religion and life; all that is beyond our reach, all that is invisible, all that seems impossible…
…it is obvious, it is mysterious, it is benign, it is dangerous, it is rational, it is miraculous, it is charming, it is frightening, it is nauseating, it is intriguing, it is merciful, it is merciless, it is generous, it is loving, it is hateful, it is peacefull and it is violent.
The UnKnown cannot be understood and may always be interpreted in different ways by different people.
We do not know the UnKnown and we cannot know the UnKnown, if we knew the UnKnown it would not be Unknown.
We come from the UnKnown and we go to the Unknown.
Tomorrow is UnKnown and Yesterday is UnKnown.
The Meaning is UnKnown, the Truth is UnKnown.
We seek the UnKnown in all the books of knowledge ever written down by prophets, scribes, scholars, poets and journalists, in all the wonders of nature, in all our experiences of life.
The UnKnown is The Joyo, is God, Allah, The Creator, The Source of existence; The UnKnown is 'Uncertainty' and 'Doubt' as scientists and philosophers would call it; and has many other names in many other cultures.
The UnKnown includes scientific discoveries yet to be made, artistic creations and creative systems yet to be produced, catastrophies and miracles yet to occur; tragedies, romances and other stories yet to unfold.
The UnKnown Project:
I collect here the works I have named 'The UnKnown' in dedication to The UnKnown;
I embrace my lack of understanding, my lack of knowledge and control and also my habitual tendencies for control and faith in what I know.
I do not understand, I only feel the pull of time and a drive coming from somewhere prior to and ahead of my experience.
English is so insufficient and so is all language, and so it would not be enough only to allow this expression to emanate through words, it can only be a compliment to other forms of transmittance and methods contemplation.
As such the unknown is a multi media project incorporating as many forms as I can attempt to wield, a projects with its roots in Mumagi culture and with the ambition to grow beyond.
I give you this to interpret as you please, to find and lose yourself, for it is not through the words or actions of others that we act, but through our interpretations of the those words according to our own experience and understanding which of course may change over time.
We embrace the UnKnown in this project, we do not even know if or when it will be finished. It continues to develop, to evolve, to grow, each track being updated on a regular basis.
The different mediums involved in the project are developing alongside each other.
The album, book, paintings, compositions, designs, events and videos etc... but all are divided into three sections:
1. Songs 2. Narratives. 3. Fluid Relationships.
1. The seven songs began life in the recording studio through intuitive development of musical tracks. These are being reinterpreted in the book and extended as poems or discussions and as pictures, diagrams and videos. (Deap Sea, Born Winner, Broken Heart, She Ran Away, Heaven, The UnKnown, Angels).
2. The five narratives began life as stories, poems or collections of thoughts in written form. They are also developed as compositions on paper and as studio recordings. (Infinite Mystery, Dream Meditation, In Search of Free Being Spaces, She Kept on Fighting, The Calling).
3. Fluid Relationships began life as a paper on relationships, this is divided into three parts and these are to be interpreted in the other mediums. (FR I: The Phases FR II: The Others FR III: The Self).
